13 Days Kilimanjaro Climb and Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Tanzania

Pick up from Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Our guide will drive you from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your booked hotel in Moshi.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Moshi as mentioned in the program.

Day 2: Transfer to Machame Gate – Start Trekking

An early start with a drive to Machame Gate. Begin trekking through the rain forests on a winding trail for 5–7 hours until you arrive at Machame Campsite.

Overnight at: Machame Camp (3100 m)

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After breakfast, leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing a little valley and walking along a steep rocky ridge covered with heather until the end of the ridge.
The route then turns west onto a river gorge at 3658 m (5–7 hours).

Overnight at: Shira Camp (3800 m)

Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

From the Shira Plateau continue trekking east towards the Lava Tower called “the Shark’s Tooth.” Shortly after the tower you come to a junction leading to the Arrow Glacier.
Continue to Barranco Campsite for overnight (5–7 hours).

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

Leaving Barranco, continue walking on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, through the Karanga Valley and the junction that connects to Barafu Campsite for overnight (8–9 hours).
The two peaks, Mawenzi and Kibo, can be seen from this point.

Overnight at: Barafu Camp (4600 m)

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak – Descend to Mweka Camp

Just after midnight trek past Stella Point (5745 m) on the way to the summit, Uhuru Peak. This part of the climb takes about 8 hours.
You have now reached the highest point in Africa at 5895 meters!
From the summit descend to Mweka Camp (3100 m) for overnight, which takes about 5 hours.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Moshi

After breakfast, continue the descent down to Mweka Park Gate. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy.
Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear, but keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy.
A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi.

Day 8: Moshi to Tarangire National Park

Pick up from your hotel in Moshi and depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full-day game drive.
Tarangire is known for its majestic baobab trees, large herds of elephants, and abundant wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, kudu, buffalo, giraffe, and zebra.
Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge.

Day 9: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart for the endless plains of Serengeti. Enjoy a game drive en route, spotting wildlife across the savannah.
Witness the great wildebeest migration (seasonal) as herds cross crocodile-infested rivers on their ancient journey north.
Dinner and overnight in Serengeti.

Day 10: Full Day Game Viewing in Serengeti

Full day exploring Serengeti National Park. Resident wildlife is abundant year-round, and during July–October, the Mara River crossings offer a dramatic spectacle.
Lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and more are commonly seen. Overnight in Serengeti.

Day 11: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Morning game drive in Serengeti before departing for Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Optional visit to a Maasai Boma for a cultural experience. Dinner and overnight at campsite/lodge near Ngorongoro.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater to Moshi

Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, home to over 25,000 animals including the Big Five.
Enjoy a full-day game drive before returning to Moshi in the evening.

Day 13: Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home or to Zanzibar.
