Rest early to prepare for the exciting days ahead. Arusha serves as the perfect gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit, offering stunning views of Mount Meru and glimpses of local culture.
Depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive baobab trees and large elephant herds. Game drive through diverse landscapes including savanna, woodland, and swamps. Witness over 300 bird species and spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, and buffalo. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife year-round, creating excellent photography opportunities. Set up camp or check into your lodge within the park. Evening game drive to catch predators becoming active as temperatures cool. The park’s unique landscape and abundant wildlife make it an ideal introduction to Tanzania’s safari experience.
Morning game drive in Tarangire before departing for Lake Manyara National Park. This compact park offers incredible diversity, from groundwater forests to soda lake shores. Famous for tree-climbing lions and massive flocks of flamingos, the park provides intimate wildlife encounters. Explore the hot springs and observe over 400 bird species. Hippos congregate in pools while elephants roam the acacia woodlands. The dramatic rift valley escarpment creates stunning backdrops for wildlife photography. Evening arrival at your accommodation near the park, with time to relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Journey to the world-renowned Serengeti National Park, stopping for game viewing along the route. Enter through Naabi Hill Gate and begin your first game drive in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The vast plains stretch endlessly, home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth. Depending on the season, witness parts of the Great Migration or observe resident wildlife, including lions, elephants, and giraffes. Set up at your camp or lodge in Central Serengeti. Evening game drive to explore different areas and catch the magical African sunset over the savanna.
Dedicate the entire day to exploring Serengeti’s diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife. Early morning game drive when predators are most active, followed by breakfast in the bush. Visit different areas of the park, from riverine forests to open plains. Witness hunting strategies of big cats and observe intricate herd behaviors of wildebeest and zebras. Picnic lunch at a scenic spot while watching wildlife around waterholes. Continue afternoon game drives, focusing on different habitats. The Serengeti offers endless wildlife encounters and photographic opportunities throughout the changing light of the day.
Morning game drive in Serengeti before departing for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Travel through the highlands with spectacular views of the Ngorongoro Crater rim. This UNESCO World Heritage Site combines wildlife conservation with Maasai pastoral traditions. Check into your lodge positioned on the crater rim with breathtaking views into the caldera. Visit a traditional Maasai village to learn about their ancient culture and customs. Evening at leisure, preparing for tomorrow’s crater descent. The highland climate provides a refreshing change from the savanna heat.
Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, often called Africa’s Eden. This collapsed volcanic caldera hosts over 25,000 large mammals in a compact 260 square kilometers. Spot the endangered black rhino, massive bull elephants, and dense predator populations, including lions and hyenas. The crater floor features diverse habitats from grasslands to forests and soda lakes. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Hippo Pool while observing these magnificent creatures. The crater’s unique ecosystem creates one of the world’s most concentrated wildlife viewing experiences, offering guaranteed sightings of Africa’s Big Five.
Morning at leisure on the crater rim before returning to Arusha. Transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar, the exotic Spice Island. Upon arrival, transfer to Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in Swahili, Arab, Indian, and European influences. Check into your hotel and explore the narrow alleys filled with history. Visit the bustling Forodhani Gardens market for fresh seafood and local delicacies. The transition from safari adventure to tropical paradise marks the beginning of your beach relaxation phase, offering cultural immersion in Zanzibar’s unique heritage.
Full day exploring Stone Town’s fascinating history and architecture. Visit the former slave market, now an Anglican Cathedral, to learn about Zanzibar’s complex past. Tour the Sultan’s Palace Museum and House of Wonders, showcasing Swahili culture. Wander through spice markets experiencing aromatic cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves that made Zanzibar famous. Take a spice tour to active plantations, learning about cultivation methods and traditional uses. Visit Freddie Mercury’s birthplace and explore craft shops selling local artwork. Sunset dhow cruise around the harbor, experiencing traditional sailing while enjoying tropical drinks and fresh seafood.
Transfer to your chosen beach resort on Zanzibar’s pristine coastline. Popular areas include Nungwi, Kendwa, or the southeast coast’s secluded beaches. Check into your beachfront accommodation and spend the day unwinding on white sand beaches lapped by turquoise Indian Ocean waters. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing under palm trees. Many resorts offer spa services perfect for post-safari relaxation. Evening beachside dining featuring fresh seafood and tropical fruits. The contrast between safari adventures and tropical paradise creates the perfect balance for your Tanzanian experience.
Full day enjoying Zanzibar’s marine attractions and beach activities. Take a snorkeling or diving trip to explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with tropical fish. Visit nearby sandbanks for pristine swimming and sunbathing opportunities. Try traditional dhow sailing or modern water sports like jet skiing and parasailing. Many areas offer dolphin watching excursions with opportunities to swim alongside these playful creatures. Alternatively, enjoy spa treatments, beach walks, or poolside relaxation. What our customers say
EXCELLENT Based on 17 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Phillip MVerified Very professional guides for Meru hike We are so pleased we booked with MJ Safaris and Adventure. They picked us up from the airport 2 days before our hike so we stayed an extra night at the hotel that they chose. The Maridadi hotel has great food, great rooms and a lovely clean pool. They met us the next day for our briefing and to give us our duffle bags with included sleeping bags. All the support staff were amazing, Silvano, Nicholas, Kelvin and Benjamin plus the porters who have a tough job. The food they provided was really good, nice flavours and more than enough to give you energy, they couldn't do more for you. The mountain huts were basic but comfortable and we had a 4 person bunk room for the two of us and we want to thank them for looking after us so well. The hike was amazing, as per other tour operators, it included Little Meru on day 2 in the afternoon which is well worth doing. The summit day we set off at half past midnight and got to the summit to see the sunrise over Kilimanjaro, this was beyond expectations. the summit day is tough but well worth the effort for an amazing experience and stunning scenery not to mention the sense of achievement as this is not a small mountain! You should feel confident booking with MJ Safaris as they delivered in all aspects better than we imagined and were actually better value than most and at the end of the day everyone is on the same route and same accommodation.Posted on Tripadvisor Евгений УVerified It was an amazing African adventure I contacted MJ Safaris & Adventure for organizing a enough long tour of Africa. Initially, I was planning only safaris and jungle treks in Uganda and Tanzania for 2 weeks, but while discussing the trip details, my "appetite" grew, and i decided to add a climbing to Kilimanjaro summit and the final tour duration became 21 days. It was my first time visiting mainland Africa, so I spent a long time choosing a tour company for organising this adventure for me, trusted my intuition, and was absolutely right. From my inquiry, to the subsequent discussion of details, to the organization, the guides, and all the little details along the way, everything was top-notch; I was absolutely delighted. It's been two weeks since I returned from the trip, and I already miss the unique African vibe, the breathtaking landscapes, and the very friendly and helpful people. It was a wonderful adventure and I will definitely repeat it again. Thank you to the entire MJ Safaris & Adventure team for such unforgettable experiences and emotions. Plus, I want to add that for me, as a very passionate photographer, this trip was a real gold mine - I brought back thousands of wonderful pictures, and I plan to organize my own photo exhibition.Posted on Tripadvisor Nicole BVerified Simply amazing We had an absolutely incredible safari experience, and so much of that was thanks to our guide, Gift Dastan. From the moment we met him, his knowledge, professionalism, and passion for wildlife were obvious. He worked tirelessly to make sure we saw as much as possible, and thanks to his expertise, we had unforgettable sightings of lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and so much more. He seemed to know exactly where to be and when, giving us opportunities to witness amazing animal behavior that we will never forget. What truly set Gift apart was how kind, patient, and personable he was. He answered all of our questions, shared fascinating information about the animals, the area and his life before being a guide. He made every game drive both educational and exciting. We always felt safe, comfortable, and well cared for. This trip was a dream come true for us, and Gift played a huge role in making it such a special experience. If you are lucky enough to have him as your guide, you are in for an amazing adventure. Thank you, Gift, for memories that will last a lifetime. Five stars isn’t enough!Posted on Tripadvisor Matty GVerified Time in Tanzania Well Spent Sorted everything out for me and my friend. Hiking Kilimanjaro, week long safari, hotels, food, travel, everything! Such a good service!Posted on Tripadvisor Ned wVerified Saw everything Had a great time, food was good and saw all the animas in 4 beautiful national parks.Posted on Tripadvisor Susanne SVerified Exceptional 12-Days Kenya & Tanzania Safari Experience with MJ Safaris & Adventures My partner and I just completed an absolutely phenomenal 12-day safari through Kenya and Tanzania with MJ Safaris & Adventures, and I'm still in awe of the incredible experience we had. Booking with them was remarkably easy and efficient, with clear communication every step of the way. Our safari guide, Deo, was nothing short of extraordinary—his passion for wildlife, deep knowledge of animal behavior, and keen tracking skills made every game drive an adventure filled with remarkable sightings and educational insights. Deo's warm personality, patience with our endless questions, and ability to position us perfectly for photographs made him feel more like a friend than a guide by the end of our journey. He shared fascinating stories about conservation efforts, local traditions, and the ecosystems we explored, bringing the landscapes of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Masai Mara to life in ways we never imagined. The accommodations throughout our safari were exceptional, each offering unique charm and outstanding hospitality. At Lake Masek Tented Camp near the Crater, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and provided attentive service that made us feel like VIPs—they remembered our preferences, surprised us with special touches, and shared local knowledge that enriched our stay. The Canopy Tented Camp in the Serengeti was absolutely magical, with staff who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort while we were immersed in the heart of the wilderness, and their evening campfire gatherings created a wonderful sense of community among guests. At Osero Camp in the Masai Mara, we were blown away by the staff's professionalism and kindness, making our final days of the safari truly memorable with their personalized attention and the stunning location overlooking the plains where wildlife frequently wandered near camp. The food throughout our entire 12-day journey deserves special mention—every single meal was a delightful culinary experience that exceeded our expectations for safari dining. We enjoyed hearty breakfasts before dawn game drives, featuring fresh fruits, eggs cooked to order, cereals, pastries, and excellent Kenyan coffee that fueled our early mornings. The packed lunches Deo brought on full-day excursions were far from ordinary fresh sandwiches, salads, fruit, and snacks kept us energized while watching wildlife. Dinners at each camp were the highlight of our evenings, with multi-course meals that beautifully blended international cuisine with local East African flavors, including delicious grilled meats, fresh vegetables, flavorful stews, and creative desserts. The chefs accommodated our dietary preferences without hesitation, and the presentation and quality of every meal rivaled fine dining restaurants back home. Between meals, the camps always had snacks, beverages, and freshly baked treats available, ensuring we never went hungry. As Americans traveling to Africa for the first time, we were thoroughly impressed by the hygiene standards, food safety, and culinary creativity at every stop. MJ Safaris & Adventures clearly partners with top-quality camps that understand the importance of excellent food in creating a memorable safari experience. From witnessing wilds and spotting all of the Big Five to the cultural experiences, breathtaking sunsets, and the incredible people we met along the way, this safari was truly the trip of a lifetime. Thank you to Deo and the wonderful for making our dream safari absolutely perfect! Hope to see again! Sussie.Posted on Tripadvisor Ryan MVerified Excellent service from start to finish Excellent service from start to finish and The best hotel in Moshi. Highly recommended for Tours climbing KilimanjaroPosted on Tripadvisor peter sVerified With my Brother and his family from the US, we had the most amazing 8-day Cultural Tanzania Safari in Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Eyasi with the Hadzabe Tribe. As a Tanzanian, I was amazed to have this experience and knowing that it is in my Country. We loved every moment and saw so many animals - the great migration, lion hunts, sleeping leopards, vultures eating, newborn zebra. It was SO exciting. We spent time in the tented camps, and it was magic. What made it extra special was our driver, "Yona," who had a great animal expertise, interesting stories, and was just nice to be around. We highly recommend that you ask for MJ Safaris & Adventure for your trip to Tanzania.Posted on Tripadvisor C GVerified I booked only a few weeks before arriving into Tanzania, with so many options online it was really hard to decide on a company, but MJsafaris got back to me via email so quickly everytime I sent a question (and I had a lot!). I was travelling with a few friends and they left it to me to find a company, so pressure was on. After confirming our arrival, hotel in Moshi and route and safari (13 day combo, Machame route 6 days and Safari 5 days), the team at MJ looked after us so well! We met our guide in Moshi at the hotel the day before the climb, he went over the route day by day with us, he checked our gear, and reassured us with every question we had. Our guides and porter team looked after us so well on the mountain, we had a group with mixed paces, and having 2 guides was super helpful so we could walk at our own pace, and didn't feel pressured to keep up or slow down. Food was amazing as well, we always had plenty to go around, including the fresh fruits Moshi has to provide (taste so amazing) and local avocados which I fell in love with! Summit day is tough, but we all made it (100% success rate!), but really it wasn't us, it was the guides and the summit porter we had! Without them we would have given up after a few hours! After the trek we did a 5 day camping safari, it was basic, but there is something really incredible with camping in the Serengeti! The noises, the eyes! The camps were safe, food was all locked up and excpet for an elephant coming quite close we were not disturbed at all! We saw the big 5! The Cheetahs in the Serengeti were amazing, and do not miss the Ngorongoro Crater! As you can see, I cannot talk enough about our experience, but it definetly would not have happened without the team at Moshi! So a massive THANK YOU to Jackson, Noela, our amazing trek team (guides James and Nico!) and fantastic safari driver (who I swear had eyes at the back of his head! Nelly!)Posted on Tripadvisor Nahimana BVerified Mj Safaris We had an incredible adventure on our safari combining Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Every part of the trip was well organized, and we were amazed by the variety of landscapes and wildlife we encountered. Tarangire was a wonderful surprise: a quieter park with a truly wild and peaceful atmosphere. We saw dozens of elephants, sometimes just a few meters from the vehicle! The iconic baobab trees give the park a unique and almost magical feel. Ngorongoro Crater, on the other hand, was absolutely breathtaking. Descending into this vast caldera, surrounded by lush cliffs, felt like entering another world. We were lucky enough to see the Big Five, including a rare black rhino! The density of wildlife in such a small area is simply stunning. Our guide was exceptional – knowledgeable, passionate, and always attentive. Thanks to him, we learned so much about the animals, the plants, and the local culture.
