5 Days Safari Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1: Arusha/Moshi to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, do we head to the Tarangire National Park for a morning game drive? The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African national park is also home to three rare species of animals – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. Overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge.

DAY 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park

The drive to Manyara National Park takes about 30-45 minutes. In Manyara, after having a picnic lunch, you start the late afternoon game drive, which is also the best time to view animals in this park. When you approach it from the East Rift Valley escarpment looms on the horizon, forming an impressive back droid to the lake. In the tall trees of the groundwater forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch, and on the escarpment elephants stand in the shade. Other animals frequently seen are zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, and others. Overnight at campsites full board.

DAY 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park

Driving to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge takes about 3 to 4 hours. Olduvai Gorge is an archaeological site located in the eastern Serengeti plains, where early human fossils were first discovered. It has an amazing landscape that resulted from the tectonic forces which created the Great Rift Valley millions of years ago. Then in the late evening the game drives to Serengeti and overnight at the full board.

Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will embark upon another incredible Safari, a game drive in the Serengeti, before travelling to the Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the edge of the crater in the afternoon, you will have your first glimpse of what awaits you the following day – glistening streams, open grassland, and an infinite number of animals. You will spend the night at a nearby lodge, with the orange glow of sunset surrounding you as you drift off to sleep. Overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Moshi Town

The Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest volcanic caldera, is almost 20km wide, approximately 600 m deep, and is known for its large variety of wildlife. In addition to the Big Five, the various springs attract animals such as wildebeest, gazelles, reedbucks, and more than 500 bird species. At a picnic site, you will have lunch before enjoying some more game viewing in the crater.

After your afternoon game drive, you will return to Moshi, where your safari ends.
